As a native of Bismarck, ND, I have taken advantage of many of the outdoor sports the state has to offer. I have been blessed with being able to enjoy Bismarck, North Dakota’s many water ways, mostly the renowned Missouri River famous for its Walleye fisheries.Once a guide, with self owned “Gone Fishin’ Guide Service” I found my interest growing into the field of taxidermy and slowly expanded my business into “Gone Fishing Taxidermy and Guide Service”. My love of wildlife and the beauty of it drove me to pursue the craft of taxidermy. While being a guide, I could experience helping someone with their big catch and the euphoria that comes with; but in taxidermy, it offers me an artistic outlet to be able to keep that moment in something tangible for my customers for many years to come. You may then ask, what exactly is taxidermy? Taxidermy is a general term describing the many methods of reproducing a life-like three-dimensional representation of an animal for permanent display. In some cases, the actual skin (including the fur, feathers or scales) of the animal is preserved and mounted over an artificial armature. In other cases, the specimen is reproduced completely with man-made materials.Taxidermy allows me to incorporate many crafts, such as carpentry, woodworking, tanning, molding and casting; but it also requires artistic talent, including the art of sculpture, painting and drawing. In addition to artistic talent, taxidermy requires tremendous patience as is often the case with sports hunting and fishing. At “Gone Fishin’ Taxidermy” It is my goal to deliver the best product in a most timely manner with that personal touch and a piece that you will have to enjoy for many years to come.Regards,Bryan Backer
